Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Hohhot Arrival, Kubuqi Desert Discovery Tour
   Charming Desert Landscapes and Fun Desert Hiking Tour

   In the morning, start the 2-day Kubuqi Desert Tour. The local guide and driver will pick you up from your downtown hotel in Hohhot to Kubuqi Desert. It is the seventh largest desert in China and the closest desert to Beijing, with a magnificent desert landscape.

   

   On the way, you can visit Hasu Lake, a charming wetland park. Opt for a battery car ride to explore the lake, enjoy the picturesque scenery of green grass, clear water and white clouds (optional). There is a wide variety of birds, so you can also choose to rent binoculars to observe the birds around you (optional).

   

   Next move to Yemingsha, aka The Night Singing Sand Area, the hinterland of Kubuqi Desert. The desert is known for its sand-singing phenomenon at night, which occurs when people walk on the sand.

   In the afternoon, arrive at the campsite and have a rest. Then bring your trekking tools to start a fascinating Kubuqi Desert hiking tour. Stunned by the spectacular view of the rolling sand dunes with the blue sky. Discover desert plants, green vegetation and creeks for a fun experience of hiking. And witness the stunning sunset with golden light spreading over the desert.

   

   As night falls, join in a bonfire party with a BBQ dinner. You can talk to fellow travelers, sing and dance around the bonfire, and taste the delicious local food.

   Tonight choose to camp under the starry desert sky in a comfortable tent (optional). It’s an opportunity to admire the stars and moon while listening to the sounds of the wind and shifting sands.

   Or choose to stay overnight in a hotel within the desert with modern facilities and services (optional).

2. Day 2: Kubuqi Desert Adventure, Ordos Departure
   Enjoy Stunning Sunrises and Participate in Thrilling Desert Activities

   In the morning, admire the desert sunrise and marvel at the glittering skyline of the vast desert. Immerse yourself in the peaceful beauty of the desert.

   

   After breakfast, experience an exciting off-road driving adventure, speeding across the sand and jumping over sand dunes. Along the way, encounter desert creatures, including lizards and camels.

   In addition, consider taking part in optional desert activities such as camel riding, sand sliding, quad biking and paragliding (at your own expense).

   

   Your 2-day Kubuqi Desert discovery tour ends here. The guide and driver will escort you to the Ordos airport or railway station for your departure.
