The 13th UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in China, Fangjingshan boasts its odd-shaped stone pillars, remarkable cliffs, narrow precipices, karst caves of stalactites and stalagmites, and many precious plant and animal species. In addition, thanks to several Buddha temples atop, Mt. Fanjing was included in one of the top 5 Buddhist Mountains in China.
Covering natural wonders as well as Buddhist temple relics, this 3-day tour is well arranged for you to uncover the essence of Mt. Fanjing. After a bird-view of the mountain on a cable car, you will hike to all the iconic landmarks, including Mushroom Stone, Old Golden Summit, Cheng’en Temple, Red Cloud Golden Summit. To enrich your experience, some ethnic villages highlight local folk customs, culture, and architecture are also included.

Day-by-day Itinerary
- Day 1: Tongren Arrival
Please make your own way to Tongren Fenghuang Airport. Upon your arrival, the local driver will pick you up from the exit gate by holding a welcome board with your name. After collecting all tourists at the airport, drive to Jiangkou county overnight.

- Day 2: Mt.Fanjingshan Tour
After breakfast, start an exciting exploration in Mt. Fanjing. Owning to awe-inspiring mountain views, sheer cliffs, odd-shaped stone pillars, caves of stalactites and stalagmites, and many precious plant and animal species, Mt. Fanjing has been listed as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage in 2018. It collects its main seeing points on the peaks: Mushroom Stone, Old Golden Summit, Cheng’en Temple, Red Cloud Golden Summit.
After entering the mountain, a shuttle bus will take you to the cable car station from where the cable carride will offer you a bird-view of Fanjing Mountain. It will be a thrilling experience as the cable car flying over the dense emerald forest.
Fanjing Mountain Get off the cable car, hike about 40 minutes to the Mushroom Stone. The incredible mushroom-shaped stone is a natural masterpiece that has undergone many heavy natural disasters, though the gigantic quadrate head seems is going to fall down from its slender column-like body.
Following the Mushroom Stone is a challenging hike to the Old Golden Summit. It is really worth your hike as you will see the breathtaking scenery including the iconic Red Clouds Golden Summit from afar when stepping on the Old Golden Summit.
Move to the Cheng’en Temple, a Ming Dynasty temple with endless pilgrims thronging its realm which helps Fanjingshan Mountain gaining the title “one of Five Great Buddhist Temples in China”.
Then, the way to Red Cloud Golden Summit is also sheer. It frequents on many photos of Mt. Fanjing due to the stunning appearance - a giant stone column roots deeply in-ground, and splits into two parts on the top. A stone bridge is built to connect the two flats, enabling you a convenient visit to the two temples on either side of the flats. After the sightseeing, the cable car and shuttle bus will take you to descend to the mountain foot.
If time permits, pay a short visit to Zhaisha Dong Village. Around 3 kilometers from Mount Fanjing, it is the home of the Dong ethnic group where you can experience the authentic culture and food of Dong people.

Zhaisha Dong Village - Day 3: Tongren Departure
This morning, you will take leisure sightseeing in Yamugou Scenic Area. Walking along the canyon to enjoy the beautiful scenery of streams and lush grass on the shoreside. The scenic area also includes a rural-style corridor, a shopping street, an ancient village from the Ming Dynasty, and a Tujia-style garden. Here, you can enjoy the original natural scenery and authentic Tujia culture.
Later, continue your visit to the ancient "Miao King City", a well-preserved ancient Miao Fort with over 600 years of history. Integrating politics, economy, culture, military heritage, and architecture, the fort features Miao-styled wooden buildings, offering you a chance to learn the history and culture of the Miao people. You can take a leisure walk around the fort and take some amazing photos.
After the visit, you'll drive to Tongren Airport for departure.
