Tunxi Ancient Street - Day 2: Yellow Mountain Adventure TourConquer to the Three Highest Peaks of Yellow Mountain
Enjoy an early breakfast at the hotel. The tour guide will wait for you in the hotel lobby and then head to the Mount Huangshan. Aka Yellow Mountain, it has been a famous mountain in China since ancient times, featuring "four wonders": strange pines, grotesque rocks, sea of clouds and hot springs. In addition, rime, snow scenery, and sunrise are also very popular among tourists.
After 1.5-hour driving, we arrive at the foot of the mountain. You will then be guided to take a tourist bus to reach the Mercy Light Pavilion. This is the place where we hop on a cable car to the Yuping Scenic Area. Also called Wenshu Temple, the scenic area covers almost all of the wonders of Mount Huangshan, and is therefore known as the best place to visit in Yellow Mountain.
You will first hike to the viewing point of the well-known Guest-greeting Pine. This tree is about 10 meters high, with two 7.6-meter-long lateral branches extending from the middle of the trunk. Continue to appreciate the scenery of Tiandu Peak (Celestial Capital). It is the third main peak of Mount Huangshan, 1829.5 m above sea level.
Guest-Greeting Pine Then, continue hiking for 20 minutes to reach a fork in the road. From there, you will walk for 1 hour upwards to Lotus Peak, the first peak of Yellow Mountain, with an altitude of 1864.8 meters. You will have a great view of the scenery here. Many of the pine trees here resemble flying dragons. If you come here from April to May, you will enjoy a sea of azaleas all over the mountain. Go down the One Hundred Cloud Ladder.
Your Huangshan hiking tour continues to One-Line-Sky. After a short break, hike to the second highest peak on Huangshan, Bright Summit (1,860 meters), which is also an excellent viewpoint. From there, walk down to see the spectacular West Sea Canyon. Finally, take a 30-minute walk to Flying-over Rock, where you'll see a giant boulder towering over a rocky platform that is 12 meters high and 2.5 meters wide. The rocky platform underneath is 12 to 15 meters long and 8 to 10 meters wide. The contact surface between them is very small, and the boulder above seems to fly from the sky, so it is called Flying-over Rock.
Note: Lotus Peak and West Sea Canyon are usually closed from December to mid-March due to heavy snow.
After that, walk about 40 minutes to the hotel. We will stay overnight on the mountain.
