4 Days Beijing Xian Tour by Overnight Train

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Beijing to Xian Tour by Overnight Train

   Our local Beijing driver will pick you up from the hotel lobby in the late afternoon by holding a name board and transfer you to Beijing West Train Station for the overnight train T41/18:46-8:01+1(or a train with a similar schedule) to Xian.

   Accommodation: Soft sleeper train  (4 berths shared in 1 cabin)

2. Day 2: Xian History Tour
   Explore Xian History from Pagodas to Museum

   When you arrive in Xian in the morning, your tour guide and driver will greet you at the exit of Xian train station. If you would like to have breakfast first, please feel free to ask the tour guide to bring you to a restaurant around (cost on your own).

   Your Xian tour begins with Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the oldest and largest square brick tower in the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). Xuanzang, an eminent monk of the Tang Dynasty, once translated the Buddhist scriptures that he brought back to China from India. It has a history of more than 1350 years.

   

   Next, you will be transferred to visit the Xian Museum to learn about the city’s history and appreciate some exquisite relics unearthed in the local area. Inside the scenic area, you will also see the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, which was also built to store the Buddhist scriptures brought from Ancient India by the master monk Xuanzang. Different from the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Small Wild Goose Pagoda attracts visitors with its special charms that keep quiet and peaceful in the bustling downtown area.

   Finish the tour in the early afternoon and check in at the local hotel for rest.

3. Day 3: Xian Terracotta Warriors Tour
   Witness the Eighth Wonder of the World

   Please be ready for the tour today at the hotel lobby after breakfast. The first stop is the Terracotta Warriors Museum, located 30 km east of Xi’an City. Known as “the Eighth Wonder of the World”, now the museum includes Pit 1, Pit 2, Pit 3, and the exhibition hall of the chariots and horses. Give its large scale, it will take 2 to 2.5 hours to visit. And the guide will explain the stories behind these terracotta warriors to help you learn more about them.

   

   Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, go to Huaqing Hot Springs. It’s the Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty’s winter palace where they could enjoy hot springs in the cold winter. Emperor Xuanzong and his favorite Concubine Yang Yuhuan spent a lot of happy time here. You will learn about the ever prosperity of the Tang Dynasty here and also the moving love story between them.

4. Day 4: Xian Back to Beijing Tour by Overnight Train
   Optionally Cycle on the City Wall, Explore Muslim Culture

   Today is the last day of your Xian tour.  After breakfast around 9:00 am, you will be taken to explore the Ancient City Wall. Built in the Ming Dynasty, 1370 A.D., it is not only the unique and intact city wall that has survived in China but also the biggest and most complete military system of defense in the world. Walking or riding a bike (optional with cost on your own) on the 600-year-old wall is definitely a lifetime experience.

   

   Next, head to Bell and Drum Tower Square located in the very center of the city. It is considered as the symbol of this old capital. Walking forward, you will come to the Muslim Quarter where you will find many special local products and authentic local snacks.

   In the hidden alleys of the Muslim Quarter sits the Great Mosque, one of the two oldest mosques in Xian. The architecture was in traditional Chinese style, combined with Islamic style, with the roofs titled with glazed tiles, and most of the tiles are black. After the visit, your guide and driver at Xianbei train station for an overnight train T232/17:28-06:12+1 back to Beijing.

5. Day 5: Beijing Arrival

   Upon arrival in Beijing, meet your Beijing local driver at the exit of Beijing West Train Station and finally end the whole Beijing Xian tour with hotel drop-off.
