Your 5-day Jingdezhen tour begins with Jingdezhen Ancient Porcelain Street. Wandering on the Ancient Porcelain Street in Jingdezhen, it’s easy for you to imagine if you are traveling back in time to old China. The buildings you browsed along the street have been maintained well since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, through which you can read the history of Jingdezhen City development, porcelain development as well as local folk culture.

  2. Today you will explore the highlight sights of the cultural Jingdezhen. The first stop will be the Expo Area of Ancient Kiln & Folk Cultures in Jingde. Expo Area of Ancient Kiln & Folk Cultures is an all-in-one cultural scenic zone with functions of Cultural Expo, porcelain making experience, and daily entertainment in one place. It was in 1980 that the local government started to build this area for the purpose of protecting those old kilns, old workshops, and buildings scattered in the corner of Jingdezhen City. The Expo Area is Jingdezhen culture in miniature. For sure, your eyes will be dazzled by the various delicate porcelains and their background history.

Later, continue your visit to Jingdezhen China Ceramics Museum (closed each Tuesday). It is the first Chinese museum to feature porcelain, growing out of Jingdezhen Ceramics, built in 1954. It collects potteries of the Neolithic Age and over 30,000 ceramic treasures since the Han and Tang Dynasties, covering those representative breeds in the long history of Jingdezhen's porcelain making. Follow the tour guide to browse those fine china wares and enjoy a feast for both eyes and spirits.

Afterward, move on to another must-visit attraction - the Hutian Ancient Kiln Site to explore Jingdezhen culture on porcelain making. The site started its legendary fate in the 10th century and gained peaked fame in the Song and Yuan Dynasties when it was the kiln site with the largest scale, longest time for porcelain making, and best products. The relics protected here are doubtlessly very rich with those old kiln sites scattered everywhere including the chinaware and also the kiln furniture.

Last, come to the Porcelain Plaza. It is located at the center of Jingdezhen City and also the center of the local porcelain market. Stroll on the busy plaza and dazzle your eyes with those fine artistic products, but please do remember to bargain if you want to purchase as souvenirs.

You will see many original residences from the Ming and Qing dynasties here, among which Chengzhi Hall is an architectural masterpiece and enjoys the name of "Folk Forbidden City". It has a lot of complex wood carvings with great artistic value. We will also stroll along the South Lake and absorb the picturesque scenery.

After the relaxing sightseeing, transfer to a local hotel for check-in. Have a good rest for tomorrow’s mountain hiking!

  5. If weather permits, you will get up in the early morning to witness the incredible sunrise. When the mountain is still sleeping under the starry sky, you will leave the hotel to occupy a vantage point and quietly wait for the thrilling moment. With the passage of time, the color of the sky will change slowly. The sun finally shows its head and the peaks are bathed in dazzling gold.

After enjoying the sunrise, follow your guide to go back to the hotel and have breakfast. Then move on to explore Lion Peak which got its name from the look of a crouching lion. You will visit Dawn Pavilion and see an interesting rock called "Stone Monkey Watching Sea".

Then, follow your guide to explore Tunxi Ancient Street, China's most well-preserved ancient street combining the architectural styles of the Southern Song Dynasty, Ming Dynasty, and Qing Dynasty. Just stroll on the street leisurely and appreciate the Hui-style buildings.

Then we will visit Hu Kaiwen Ink-stick Factory which was founded by Hu Kaiwen in 1765 during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty to see how the ink stick is made. The ink stick is one of the four treasures of Chinese study (writing brush, ink stick, ink slab, and paper), and the best ink stick in China comes from Anhui Province, the home of Huangshan Mountain.
