Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Arrival in Kaili

   Welcome to Kaili, located in the eastern part of Guizhou Province. You will enjoy ethnic minority customs, Miao crafts, Dong ethnic songs, and more here.

   After arriving at the airport or train station, your driver will take you to your hotel for check-in. The remaining time is free, and you can explore this city at your own pace.

2. Day 2: Kaili Highlights Tour
   Learn about Miao Culture through Welcome Rice Wine & Wax Dyeing

   Today, your Guizhou tour takes you to two famous villages. In the morning, we'll head to Langde Upper Miao Village. It is well known for its traditional architecture and unique Miao culture and customs.

   You will enjoy welcome rice wine and watch a traditional Miao dance performance. Besides, wander the village and explore its stilted houses & winding alleys. You informative tour guide will introduce you to something special. If you're interested, you can experience the optional activities, such as catching fish in the fields and picking fresh vegetables.

   

   After that, transfer to another ethnic minority village called Matang Gejia Village. It is famous for its unique batik-making production. Wax dyeing is a traditional technique in Miao ethnic areas and also one of the national intangible cultural heritages. Walk into a local dyeing workshop and witness how white cloth turns into a blue hue, decorated with interesting patterns drawn with wax. You will make your own ancient art.

   After the tour, we'll return to Kaili for the night.

3. Day 3: Kaili to Rongjiang Tour
   Make Your Own Unique Paper Crafts and Visit the Only Dong Quadrangle Courtyard

   Today, your Guizhou tour takes you deeper into the cultural heritage of Guizhou. Shiqiao Miao Village, located between Kaili City and Danzhai County, is a national intangible cultural heritage site for the inheritance of "ancient paper-making". There, you have the opportunity to learn about the origin of ancient paper-making art. We have arranged a unique experience for you - you will make your own unique paper crafts under the guidance of a skilled craftsman.

   

   Next, drive 2.5 hours to Dali Dong Village in Rongjiang County. Surrounded by mountains and dense forests, Dali Dong Village is a pure land far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The entire village is lush with ancient trees and the streams are gurgling. The stilted houses here are built along the mountain and stream, arranged in rows. Go to visit the Yang Family Quadrangle Courtyard, the only Dong ethnic quadrangle courtyard in the country. It was built in 1781. If time allows, take a leisurely hike to Sandie Waterfall.

   In the evening, we head to Rongjiang County for an overnight stay.

4. Day 4: Congjiang Tour, To Zhaoxing
   Discover the Last Gun Tribe - Biasha Miao Village's Unique Traditions

   Our first destination on today’s Guizhou tour is the Biasha (Basha) Miao Village, known as the 'last gun tribe'. The residents here have been specially approved by the public security organs to carry firearms. Also, glimpse other ancient customs such as shaving hair with a sickle and worshipping ancient trees. If you are interested, you can participate in their ceremonial activities.

   

   Next, we travel to Zhanli Village. The Drum Tower is a symbol of the region. You will learn about interesting local custom - the residents have been following the philosophy of "one couple has only one boy and one girl" for hundreds of years.

   Then, go to explore the Huanggang Dong Village. The residents of Huanggang Village are all Dong ethnic group. The Drum Tower stands tall here, and the small stream in the village flows with a gurgling sound. The houses, water mills, and barns are arranged in a staggered manner, making it the most well protected Dong ethnic village in Guizhou Province. After all visits, you will be escorted to Zhaoxing Dong Village, the place for the night stay.

5. Day 5: Departure from Congjiang
   Go Deep into the Largest Dong Ethnic Village in the Country

   After breakfast, the tour guide will take you to stroll around the largest Dong ethnic village in the country, with over 6,000 residents. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, there is a small river formed by two small streams runs through the village. Your guide will take you to visit the local stilted houses, all built with cedar wood; and learn about the local traditional customs. You can also climb to the top of a viewing platform for a panoramic view of Zhaoxing and the surrounding hills.

   Afterward, be guided to visit the Zhaoxing Dong Culture Museum. Through collections of ethnic cultural relics, you will learn about the production, life, customs, and traditions of the Dong people. After that, take a moderate 2.5-hour hike through cascading rice fields and lovely villages, from Zhaoxing Dong Village to Tang'an Dong Village. Completely immerse yourself in the tranquil nature.

   

   After the hike, return to Zhaoxing. And your guide and driver will escort you to Congjiang Railway Station to catch your high-speed train to your next destination (2 hours from Guiyang and 3.5 hours from Guangzhou). Safe travels!
