5 Days Shanghai and Huangshan Tour by Bullet Train

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Shanghai Arrival

   Welcome to Shanghai, the busiest city in China! Upon arrival, a local private driver will greet you at the exit of the airport/train station by holding a name sign and transfer you to your downtown hotel.

   The rest of the day is for your own arrangement. If you need any suggestions in your free time, we will be very happy to help you.

2. Day 2: Shanghai City Tour
   Explore Modern and Classical Charm of This Metropolis

   Your Shanghai tour guide will meet you at your hotel lobby in the morning after breakfast and transfer you to the Shanghai Museum. The museum houses millions of collections and especially features bronze wares, porcelain works, paintings, and calligraphy works.

   Next, transfer to Yuyuan Garden. It is a famous classical garden which was originally built by the owner as a place for his parents to enjoy a tranquil and happy time in their old age. Nearby the garden is Yuyuan Market, a bustling marketplace set in an old Chinese neighborhood with traditional architecture and shops selling everything from local snacks to various souvenirs.

   

   After lunch, continue your Shanghai trip to Shanghai World Financial Center which offers magnificent views of the Huangpu River. Then wander around Nanjing Road to see traditional department stores and optionally try some authentic Shanghai snacks.

   The last stop of today's tour is the Bund. You will admire buildings of various styles, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and listen to your guide explaining its history. After a leisurely walk at the Bund, the guide and the driver will escort you back to your hotel.

3. Day 3: Shanghai to Huangshan Tour by Bullet Train
   Understand the Development and Changes in Shanghai

   After breakfast, check out as you will take the departure train to Huangshan directly after the tour in Shanghai. Please pack your belongings in advance.

   You will visit the Urban Planning Exhibition Hall at People's Square first, which shows the ever-changing face of Shanghai and is an essential place for tourists who are interested in the evolution of the city. Next, go to the tranquil Jade Buddha Temple. This more than 100-year-old temple was built to keep two jade Buddha statues brought back from Burma by a monk named Huigen.

   

   In the afternoon, your guide will take you to the train station for a 3-hour bullet train to Huangshan. When you arrive, a Huangshan local driver will greet you at the exit of the train station and then transfer you to your downtown hotel for a good rest.

4. Day 4: Yellow Mountain Tour
   Take a Hike to See Various Shapes of Pine Trees

   The Huangshan local guide will pick you up in the lobby of your hotel, and then drive about 1 hour to Mount Huangshan Scenic Area. Known as "the most wonderful mountain in the world", Yellow Mountain is one of the most famous mountains in China. There are five wonders, including strange pines, queer rocks, sea of clouds, hot springs, and winter snow. Xu Xiake, a famous traveler in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), once visited Mount Huangshan twice and exclaimed: "After visiting the five great mountains, I decided not to see the other mountains, but after my return from Mount Huangshan, I don't care even to glance at the five great mountains."

   Upon arrival, transfer to the shuttle bus and head to Yungu Station to take the cable car up the mountain. Today you will mainly visit Beihai Scenic Area. Mount Huangshan tour officially starts! Along the way, you will appreciate various shapes of pine trees such as Harp Pine, Black Tiger Pine, and uniquely shaped rocks. Hike to the Cloud-dispelling Pavilion to enjoy the spectacular sunset. Continue hiking to catch the beautiful scenery of the Xihai Grand Canyon.

   You will spend the night on Mount Huangshan Mountain tonight.

5. Day 5: Huangshan Village Tour, Departure
   Enjoy the Magnificent Sunrise Scenery, Admire Hui-style Buildings

   If the weather is clear, you will wake up early this morning to enjoy the magnificent sunrise scenery. After the visit, return to your hotel for breakfast.

   After checking out, continue your Mount Huangshan tour and hike to the second peak of Yellow Mountain, Bright Summit (6,102 feet), to enjoy the strange Flying-Over Rock. Afterward, go to Lion Peak to see Monkey Watching the Sea. Walk back to Yungu Station and take the cable car down the mountain.

   After that, you will be transferred to Hongcun Village, located in Yixian County, Huangshan City, which enjoys the reputation of "village in Chinese painting". Here, you will appreciate famous Huizhou-style architecture, including exquisite Ming and Qing Dynasty ancient residences such as Chengzhi Hall and Nanhu Academy. In addition, take a walk along Nanhu Lake and Moon Pond to capture the beautiful scenery.

   After saying goodbye to the village, your guide and driver will transfer you to the train station/airport for your departure train/flight. Our 5-day private Shanghai and Huangshan tour will end here. Wish you a pleasant journey.
