5 Days Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang Ancient Town Tour

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Zhangjiajie Arrival

   Welcome to our guided 5-day Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang tour! Upon your arrival at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport, our local driver will greet you with a welcome board and then escorte you to the well-selected hotel.

   The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city on your own. If you need any suggestions during your free time, we will be very happy to assist you.

2. Day 2: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Tour
   Yuanjiajie & Tianzi Mountain with Stunning Views & Bailong Elevator

   After breakfast, your local guide and driver will meet you in your hotel to begin today's Zhangjiajie tour at Yuanjiajie in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. It was inspired Hallelujah Mountain in the famous movie Avatar. Bailong Elevator, the highest outdoor sightseeing elevator (operating at a height of 326 meters) in the world, is a highlight in Yuanjiajie. You will ride the elevator up to the top, which takes only 66 seconds. A breathtaking landscape is waiting for you, with massive quartz-sandstone pillars.

   

   After lunch, you will be guided to explore Tianzi Mountain. One of the most spectacular sights is the sea of clouds that appears after rain, if you are lucky. You will also witness grotesque rocks and a forest of stone peaks that resemble a group of warriors awaiting orders. There is a saying that once you have seen Tianzi Mountain, you won't want to see any other peaks.

   At the end of the visit, your tour guide and driver will transfer you back to your hotel.

3. Day 3: Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Tour
   Walk on the World's Longest & Highest Transparent Glass Bridge

   Today, your Zhangjiajie tour takes you to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, which is a landform museum of Zhangjiajie, integrating mountains, rivers, and caves. Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge is a big highlight of the Canyon. It is the longest and highest glass bridge in the world, with a length of 430 meters. When walking on the transparent glass, you can have a panoramic view of flying waterfalls, running streams, and lush forests. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

   

   After lunch, move your feet to Zhangjiajie's golden tourist area, Golden Whip Stream. The stream winds its way through the peaks and valleys, and the 2-hour leisurely hike is enough for you to enjoy the strange peaks on both sides of the river, the frolicking birds and animals, and the ancient and exotic trees.

4. Day 4: Tianmen Mountain to Fenghuang Tour by High-speed Train
   Marvel at Sandstone Paintings & Experience the World's Longest Cableway

   After breakfast, you will be taken to visit Tianmen Mountain, which is famous for Tianmen Cave (which means a gate to the heaven in Chinese). First, you will take the longest cable car in the world to the top, with a one-way ride taking about 28 minutes. Once at the summit, experience the exciting attractions - Glass Skywalk and the Ghost Valley Plank Road. Both are suspended above the cliffs. Then, visit the Tianmen Temple, the Buddhist center of western Hunan. A lot of Buddhist followers come to pay respect to Buddha every year. You can wander around to appreciate the beautiful architecture and take in Buddhist culture.

   After the visit, we will descend to Tianmen Cave, the world's highest natural cave through a mountain. You could conquer the 999 steps and enjoy the wonderful scenery from above. Then, a sightseeing bus will take you down the mountain along the scenic 99 Bend Road.

   

   After saying goodbye to the mountain, go back to downtown area and continue our visit to Junsheng Sandstone Painting Gallery, where you will see a special kind of paintings made from natural sand, stones and plants. Then, you will be transferred to the train station to take 1-hour high-speed train to Fenghuang Ancient Town.

   Upon arrival, follow your guide to appreciate the beautiful night view in the towm. Fenghuang Ancient Town was built in 1704 during Kangxi Era of the Qing Dynasty. After 300 years, the town now is a famous national cultural and historical city and enjoys equal fame with Lijiang Ancient City in Yunnan and Pingyao Ancient City in Shanxi.

5. Day 5: Departure from Fenghuang
   Explore the Historic Town and Enjoy a Relaxing Cruise on Tuojiang River

   In the morning, you will take a boat ride on Tuojiang River, the mother river of the ancient town. You can see the typical stilted buildings on the bank. The houses are hanging in the air and supported by wooden pillars. Then make a stop to admire Wanming Pagoda. Next, we will cruise down to Hongqiao Wind and Rain Bridge. Last, visit Tuojiang Jumping Rock. It is 100 meters long and there are 15 stone piers on which are thick wooden board and tied with iron chains from the bottom of the river. We will walk on it and take beautiful pictures.

   

   After the tour, it's time to say goodbye. Your guide and driver will transfer you to Tongren Fenghuang Airport to catch your departure flight. If you prefer to leave from Zhangjiajie, please buy a ticket departure after 8:00 pm. Your 5-day Zhangjiajie Fenghuang tour ends here. Hop you had a great time with us!
