Collapse All
  1. Upon your arrival, a local private driver will pick you up at the exit of the Arrival Hall. Then you will be transferred to your well-selected hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore at your own pace. (no activities or tour guide service today)

  2. In the morning, the private English-speaking guide will pick you up from the downtown hotel. Your tour in Shanghai begins with the muse-see Yuyuan Garden, a typical Jiangnan classical garden, which was built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The garden is exquisitely designed, with rockeries, water pools, covered bridges, and pavilions as the main components.

The nearby Yuyuan Market is also worth visiting. There are many antique buildings, integrating shopping, tasting local snacks and sightseeing.

After that, move on to the Shanghai Museum, situated on the southern side of People's Square. Here, you'll explore four exhibition floors showing more than 100,000 invaluable artifacts, including bronze vessels, ceramics, calligraphy works, jade pieces, and crafts from ethnic minorities.

Enjoy lunch after the visit. In the afternoon, continue your Shanghai exploration of the Former French Concession, the largest and best-developed one of the old Chinese concessions. Your tour guide will explain some historical facts and take you to appreciate some characteristic buildings including Gothic, Victorian and classical styles.

Afterward, head to the "First Commercial Street of China." Stretching about 1.6 kilometers, Nanjing Road boasts many high-end shopping malls, exclusive brand stores, and quaint traditional shops. It is truly a shopping paradise. If you're lucky, you can enjoy street performances.

The last stop today is the Bund, the most iconic attraction in Shanghai. It faces the Huangpu River to the east and 52 buildings with different styles, including Gothic and Romanesque, stand to the west.

  3. Today, you will enjoy and relax in one of the most famous water towns in China - Zhujiajiao. It is known as the "Venice of Shanghai" and has a history of over 1,700 years. Strolling along the stone-paved roads of the ancient town, you will be attracted by the elegant stone bridges and murmuring rivers, as if transported back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. Appreciate the antique architecture and taste authentic snacks.

If you want to further experience the cultural heritage of the ancient town, you can visit the Kezhi Garden and the Temple of the City God at your own expense. Of course, you can also choose to take a boat ride and travel through the waterways, enjoying the beautiful scenery from another perspective.

Accommodation: Overnight in Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Area

  4. After breakfast, start your Zhangjiajie tour with the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. The vegetation in the canyon is lush and the air is fresh; Flying waterfalls, streams, and springs can be seen everywhere, like a natural oxygen bar.

The most worth-visit attraction in the scenic area is the Glass Bridge, which is 430 meters long and more than 280 meters away from the valley bottom. It is the longest and tallest transparent glass bridge in the world. In addition, the bridge provides facilities for bungee jumping and zip lines (at an additional cost).

After that, we will transfer you to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, the first national forest park in China, to hike the Golden Whip Stream for 2 hours, known as a "landscape gallery". The valley is covered in lush greenery, with clear streams. Dappled sunlight shines through the leaves of the trees, like a painting scroll.

Accommodation: Overnight in Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Area

  5. This morning, you will be taken to visit Tianzishan Scenic Area, known as the "King of Peak Forests". Millions of years ago, Tianzi Mountain was a vast sea. Later, due to complex and lengthy geological processes, various uniquely shaped peaks such as the Imperial Writing Brush Peaks, Sky Garden, and Immortal Bridge, were formed in the spot area. The sea of clouds after rain is another major feature. If you are lucky, you may witness this magnificent scenery.

After lunch, go to explore the real-life Hallelujah Mountains in the Yuanjiajie. The Enchanting Platform is the best observation deck, surrounded by hundreds of towering stone peaks, exuding an extraordinary aura. The Bailong Elevator is a highlight, as it is the world's tallest outdoor sightseeing elevator (operating at a height of 326 meters). After exiting the elevator, you will appreciate the magnificent quartz sandstone pillars.

In the end, we will transfer you to the hotel in the city center for check-in.

Accommodation: Overnight in Zhangjiajie Downtown Area

  6. Today is the last day of your private Zhangjiajie trip. Follow your guide to explore another highlight of Zhangjiajie - the Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area.

The main peak of Tianmen Mountain has an elevation of 1518.6 meters and is the highest mountain in Zhangjiajie. Upon arrival, you will take a cable car around 7,500 meters long to reach the mountaintop. After getting off the cable car, follow your tour guide to explore some classic attractions.

The Glass Skywalk is 60 meters long and 1.6 meters wide, which is a viewing platform stretching out from the sky. Unlike other boardwalks, Ghost Valley Plank Road is neither at the top nor on the side of a cliff, but stands in the middle of a towering cliff, which is quite exciting. Tianmen Mountain Temple was founded in the Ming Dynasty and is the Buddhist center of western Hunan. Outside the temple, there are towering ancient trees, and not far away there is a seven-storey stupa.

Afterward, go down to Tianmen Cave, the core landscape of the scenic area. It is the highest natural through-mountain cave in the world, and has been a fairyland described by literati and poets since ancient times. If you have the energy to do so, conquering the 999 steps can be an unforgettable experience.

Finally, take the shuttle bus on the scenic 99-Bend Road and descend the mountain. This is the end of your 6-day China tour to Shanghai and Zhangjiajie. Hope you had a good time with us.
