  1. Upon arrival, the local driver and guide will greet you and transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore Hohhot City or relax at your hotel.

  2. Today’s Inner Mongolia tour will start from Ulanchab, 150km away from Hohhot. The first attraction is Ulan Hada Volcano, known as the natural “Volcano Museum”. There are more than 30 volcanoes of various shapes and sizes.

    Wandering along the plank road, you will climb up No.3 Volcano, the largest in the complex. Here overlook the vast grasslands and all-black ore pits on the back. Continue the drive south to the No.5 Volcano, which is large and well-preserved. From its peak, you will gaze upon the dark brown No. 6 Volcano. But No.5 Volcano is relatively steep and is challenging to climb, so you need to ensure your safety.

    Then move to the hinterland of Huitengxile Grassland — the wonderful Yellow Flower Valley. Entering the valley, you can explore charming birch forests and meadows with a variety of wildflowers.

    Today you will stay overnight in Mongolian-style yurts with private bathrooms at Huitengxile Grassland. Here admire picturesque grassland and watch the stunning sunset. Also talk with the locals to experience nomadic lifestyle and Mongolian culture.

    Optional Dinner: Choose to enjoy a traditional Mongolian Zhama Banquet dinner (at your own expense). Dress in Mongolian costumes and taste Mongolian dishes like boiled mutton, milk tea, yogurt, and cheese. And watch traditional Mongolian music and dance by local artists.

  3. Before breakfast, immerse yourself in the attractive sunrise on the grassland. Next visit the Yellow Flowers Valley Geopark, a typical geological sites. Explore plenty of strange rocks of different shapes here. Along the trails, you will also see a picturesque view of cliffs, springs and forests.

    Later head to the second site of Yellow Flowers Valley, namely Wokuotai Flowers Prairie. Admire a vibrant meadow with different flowers blooming in various seasons. Also witness yurts among the flowers and the windmills in the distance. Then go to explore Niudangou Ecological Valley, a natural oxygen bar on the grassland. You will relax among the lush forests and crystal lakes.

    In addition, choose to engage in traditional Mongolian activities such as horseback riding and archery (optional).

    After that, return to Hohhot and visit the Inner Mongolia Museum. There are more than 150,000 artifacts and 9 basic displays that show the history of the Inner Mongolia. Through these exhibitions, marvel at specimens of many creatures, such as the huge fossilized skeleton of a mammoth. Also admire these exquisite artifacts such as The Eagle Crest Crown and Painted Wooden Coffin.

  4. After breakfast, continue your tour in Inner Mongolia. Drive to Baotou City, 180 km away from Hohhot, to explore the Wudangzhao Monastery. Wudangzhao is a typical Tibetan Buddhist monastery and all the great halls scatter irregularly in the valley. Admire the majestic architecture and precious relics, including thangkas, porcelains, and bronze statues. And visit Buddhist murals and statues to learn about the history and culture of Tibetan Buddhism.

    Afterwards drive to the Kubuqi Desert, reaching Yemingsha. The highlight of this site is sliding down a large sand dune shaped like a crescent. You can hear the sound of sand while gliding for a novel experience.

    At Yemingsha, watch the desert sunset and take wonderful pictures. Then check into your hotel in the desert. In the evening, you can explore the night view of the Kubuqi Desert or join a bonfire party with the locals.

    Good to know: If you are traveling with your kids, it is recommended that you arrange child-friendly activities through your travel consultant. For example, visit a nearby desert park to explore a variety of desert animals and plants. Or participate in desert-related games such as sand painting and sand sculpture.

  5. In the morning, wake up early to watch the desert sunrise. Later join in an off-road driving adventure. Encounter different landscapes while driving on the rugged terrain of the desert.

    Continue with a desert hiking experience, walking on the sand with specialized shoes to prevent sand from entering your feet. Wander deeper into the desert and learn about its ecosystem and environment. Also see precious plants and animals, including saxaul trees, jerboas, and sand foxes.

    Engage in desert activities like camel riding, motorcycling, sliding, and carting (optional).

    Afterwards, your guide and driver will take you to the accommodation in Ordos downtown, about 150 kilometers from the Kubuqi Desert.

  6. Today’s first stop is Kangbashi District, the center of Ordos City. Here admire peaceful nature landscapes such as Ulan Mulun Lake. Also, explore traditional Mongolian weddings at Ordos Wedding Service Culture Park. Take a walk at Kangbashi Central Park to experience the life of local people.

    Later, move to the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan, which is dedicated to the memory of Genghis Khan, the founder of the Mongol Empire. The main building consists of three Mongolian-style halls with a majestic design. Among them, a statue of Genghis Khan is placed in the main hall. Appreciate the large-scale murals recording the life of Genghis Khan. And visit the Cultural Exhibition Hall to learn more about the history and culture of the Mongolian nation, as well as the mysterious Genghis Khan rituals.
