6 Days Xiamen, Fujian Tulou & Yellow Mountain Tour

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Xiamen Arrival

   Xiamen is a beautiful coastal city in Fujian Province. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel by the local guide and driver. After check-in, you can explore the city at your own pace.

   Recommended activity (optional): Wander along Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street, which is Xiamen’s oldest commercial street with many shopping malls and restaurants. Ride along the Huandao Road to enjoy the stunning coastal scenery. Or taste some local snacks at the night market.

2. Day 2: Xiamen to Nanjing Tulou Tour
   Learn about the Traditional Culture and Lifestyle of Hakka People

   After breakfast, drive about 2.5 hours to Nanjing County for your Fujian Tulou tour. These Tulou are ancient dwellings of the Hakka people, who built them for defense, living, and worship.

   Visit Tianluokeng Tulou Cluster, one of the most famous Tulou clusters in Fujian. The cluster consists of a square earth building at the center of a quincunx, surrounded by four round earth buildings. Explore these wonderful buildings to wonder at the wisdom of the Hakka people.

   

   Then head to the Yuchang Building, the oldest and tallest Tulou in the area. The interior of this building is unique with crooked pillars from the second floor up. Besides, don’t miss to explore an ancestral hall built in the center of the large courtyard.

   After lunch, the guide and driver will take you to Yongding County, another place with earth buildings. Explore Taxia Village, an old Hakka village nestled along a flowing stream. Stroll along the paths to admire the breathtaking mountains while exploring the well-preserved Tulou of different shapes. Also talk with the locals to know about the Hakka culture and their customs.

   

   The last stop is Chengqilou, known as the “King of Earth Buildings”. The Tulou is a historical building with a grand scale and a well-designed structure. There are 400 rooms with internal living facilities such as wells and kitchens, reflecting the daily life of the Hakka people.

   After visiting, drive back to Xiamen and rest at your hotel.

3. Day 3: Xiamen City Tour, Xiamen to Huangshan by High Speed Train
   Explore the Coastal Beauty and Buddhist Culture

   In the morning, take a ferry to Gulangyu Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with nature views and colorful culture. Climb the Sunlight Rock for a panoramic view of Gulangyu Island with the rolling hills and blue sea, as well as a bustling scene in downtown Xiamen. Enjoy Shuzhuang Garden, the only private garden in the world that contains mountains, sea, and lake. And visit the Piano Museum, with a collection of more than 100 famous antique pianos from all over the world.

   

   After lunch, return to Xiamen. Move to South Putuo Temple, a historic Buddhist temple. The external part of the temple is a garden and the interior part consists of the monastic buildings. Here admire the majestic temples, including The Shakya ManiHall, Wanfo Pagoda and Sutra Depository. And stroll among the ancient buildings to immerse in the serene atmosphere.

   Your Xiamen highlight tour is over here. In the afternoon, the guide and driver will escort you to the railway station and take a high-speed train to Huangshan, a city in Anhui Province that is famous for the Yellow Mountain. Upon arrival, the local guide and driver will greet you and transfer you to the hotel in Huangshan city.

4. Day 4: Mt. Huangshan Exploration Tour
   Immerse in the Majestic Mountain Views of Mount Huangshan

   Today, you will have a full-day tour of the Yellow Mountain (Mt. Huangshan), one of the most beautiful and famous renowned mountains in China. The mountain is famous for its “five wonders”: strange pines, strange rocks, sea of clouds, hot springs and winter snow.

   

   Take a cable car to the North Sea Scenic Area, located in the middle of Mount Huangshan. Admire the different forms of pine trees and strange rocks, suck as Black Tiger Pine and the Crouching Dragon Pine. Also climb the towering peaks for the spectacular mountain scenery of Huangshan, like Shixin Peak. And stand on the viewing platform of White Goose Ridge to admire the sea of clouds and lush forests.

   Then hike to the West Sea Grand Canyon, famous for its thrilling trails, peculiar landforms and rich plants. Marvel at magnificent views of steep peaks, canyons and strange pines. Walk along the trail of the canyon to see some famous attractions such as Flying-over Rock, the Bright Summit, and the Cloud-dispelling Pavilion. There are signs in the area to guide the route, and the whole hike will take about 2 hours.

   In the evening, you will stay overnight at a hotel on the mountain.

5. Day 5: Yellow Mountain Adventure Tour
   Experience an Exciting Hike at the Mt. Huangshan and Explore the Anhui Culture

   Today continue to your Yellow Mountain hiking tour. Get up early to watch the spectacular sunrise over the Yellow Mountain. See the golden sunlight through the clouds to color the sea of clouds in the mountains red, showing a picturesque view.

   Next hike to the Lion Peak, one of the best places to admire the sea of clouds and the peculiar pines. The shape of the peak looks like a lying lion, with a straight and narrow summit. Here, see the famous strange stone of Huangshan Mountain, like Monkey View of the Sea. Also witness some of the famous pines, such as the Guest-greeting Pine and the Guest-farewell Pine.

   

   After lunch, take a cable car down the mountain. Head to the Tunxi Ancient Street, with a long history and rich culture in Huangshan city. There are various stores to explore traditional handicrafts and taste Anhui snacks. Appreciate the rich Anhui intangible cultural heritage, such as wood carving, brick carving, and stone carving. Besides, stroll through the old streets to experience the life and culture of the locals.

   In the evening, return to your hotel.

6. Day 6: Huangshan Departure
   Admire the Ancient Buildings and Rich Culture of Anhui

   After breakfast, drive to Hongcun Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The ancient buildings of the village are typically Huizhou-style, which harmonizes with the natural views. Walk through the exquisite architecture to admire the sparkling Moon Lake and the splendid mountains in the distance. And visit some of the attractions in the village, such as the Southern Lake Academy, and the Chengzhi Hall.

   

   Later proceed to Xidi Village, known as the “Museum of Ming and Qing Dynasty Dwellings”. The ancient buildings here are wooden structures with colorful wood, stone and brick carvings.  Wander around the village and enjoy the beautiful scenery while learning about the history and cultural heritage of Anhui.

   The 6-day Xiamen, Fujian Tulou and Yellow Mountain tour ends here. After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport or railway station for your departure.
