6 Days Xian & Lhasa Tour

Day-by-day Itinerary

1. Day 1: Xian
   Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Ancient City Wall, Shuyuanmen Ancient Street, Yongxingfang Food Street (Lunch)

   AM: Our tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel at 08:30am. Today’s first stop is the famous Terracotta Warriors and Horses. It shows a much high level in handicraft and sculpture are the most significant archaeological excavations of the 20th century.

   Noon: Lunch in local restaurant.

   

   PM: After lunch drive back to city area to visit the Ancient City Wall. Tourists could optionally ride a bike to cover more distance on City Wall top in limited time. Going down from City Wall you will roam on the Shuyuanmen Ancient Street. The 570 meters long ancient Chinese style pedestrian street bears over 100 book stores and stationery stores. At last you will visit a new food street in Xian – Yongxingfang Local Food & Folk Culture Quarter. It is an excellent place to try some local snacks in good sanitary condition. Then you will walk around for a while to have a glimpse of the lifestyle of the local people.

2. Day 2: Xian
   Shaanxi History Museum, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Great Mosque, Muslim Quarter, Bell Tower & Drum Tower Square (Lunch)

   AM: In the morning pay a visit to Shaanxi History Museum to appreciate exquisite cultural relics and brief history of China. Afterward you will pay a visit to Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The pagoda was originally built in the early Tang Dynasty (618-907) to keep the sutras and Buddha statues brought back from ancient India by master Xuanzang. Now the Big Wild Goose Pagoda area is a popular amusement place among local people. You may see some people do morning exercise there.

   Then drive to visit the Great Mosque, which is a major spot for religious activities of over 60.000 Moslems in Xi’an.

   Noon: Lunch in local restaurant.

   PM: Then take a walk in the Muslim Quarter and taste muslin food if you like. End the tour with a free walk to the Bell Tower & Drum Tower Square to pay an outer visit to the two towers.

3. Day 3: Xian – Lhasa by Flight

   After breakfast, take a morning flight to Lhasa. The local guide will meet you at Lhasa airport and then transfer you to hotel. You are suggested to have a good rest at the hotel to acclimatize yourself to the high altitude of the city.

4. Day 4: Lhasa
   Tibet Museum, Norblingka Park, Sera Monastery (Breakfast + Lunch)

   AM: After the breakfast in morning, you will visit the Tibet Museum. The Museum is designed to resemble a small Himalayan mountain monastery and in 2009, the buildings were listed on both the New York State Register and the National Register of Historic Places. After that pay a visit to Norblingka Park, the summer Palace of Dalai Lama in history.

   Noon: Lunch in local restaurant.

   PM: At last you will go to the Sera Monastery which is well-known for its almost daily ‘monk debates’ which are popular with visitors. After the tour, we will transfer you back to your hotel.

5. Day 5: Lhasa
   Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street (Breakfast + Lunch)

   AM: Today’s highlight is the Potala Palace, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama since the 7th century. The imposing Potala Palace is the highlight of any trip to Tibet. The whole architectural complex includes two parts, the White Palace and the Red Palace. The White Palace is the place where the Dalai Lamas lived and handled political affairs, while the Red Palace mainly houses the stupas of the Dalai Lamas. Your tour guide will share a wealth of information with you to help you understand its history and Tibetan Buddhism.

   Noon: Lunch in lcoal restaurant.

   PM: After included lunch, the guide will take you to the Jokhang Temple,  the spiritual center of Tibet. Visitors will be treated to the sight of various exotic and sacred sculptures. Around the Jokhang Temple, there is the ancient Barkhor Street. With the establishment of Jokhang Temple, this street became a prosperous one which is not only a long circumambulation path but also a walking street with many shops and stores. After the tour, we will transfer you back to your hotel.

6. Day 6: Lhasa Departure

   Our guide and driver will pick you up from the hotel and transfer to Lhasa airport for your flight back home after this pleasant journey.
