This 7-day Guangxi travel route through southern China begins in Nanning, where you’ll have a leisurely day to settle in. Explore the awe-inspiring Tongling Grand Canyon and Detian Waterfall, the largest transnational waterfall in Asia.
Immerse yourself in the unspoiled beauty of Mingshi Scenic Area before heading to the coastal city of Beihai. From there, venture to Weizhou Island, renowned for its volcanic landscapes and pristine beaches. Finally, explore the charming Old Quarter of Beihai before bidding farewell to this enchanting region of China.

Day-by-day Itinerary
- Day 1: Nanning Arrival
Today, the guide and the driver will pick you up from the Nanning Wuxu International Airport and then escort you to check in the hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

- Day 2: Nanning - Tongling Grand Canyon - DetianTongling Grand Canyon
After breakfast, we will drive for 4 hours to Tongling Grand Canyon. Tongling in Chinese means "connected to the spirit world". This place is a breathtaking natural wonder, boasting towering limestone cliffs, lush greenery, and cascading waterfalls, creating a mesmerizing landscape for adventurous exploration.
In the afternoon, we will take a 1.5-hour ride to the city of Detian overnight.

Tongling Grand Canyon - Day 3: Waterfall TourDetian Waterfall
Visit Detian Waterfall in the morning. Located at the Sino-Vietnamese border, it is the largest transnational waterfall in Asia and the fourth largest in the world.
We will take a bamboo raft to have a close view of the spectacular waterfall.
Not far from the waterfall lies the China-Vietnam Cross-border Street, where you can rest, eat or choose some souvenirs. In the afternoon, drive to Mingshi Scenic Area.

Enjoy a morning hike around the enchanting village. Mingshi Scenic Area nestled among the remarkable Karst mountains is crowned as "the microcosm of Guilin" and a paradise for photographers.
It offers a similar landscape to the Li River in Yangshuo and Guilin but in an unspoiled way (not occupied by tourists crows). The fresh air, bamboo forests, local humble dwellings of the Zhuang minority, revolving waterwheels, rice paddies, meandering rivers, green limestone hills, and natural murals on the cliff wall all create an idyllic scene.
Cycle in Mingshi Scenic Area There are three ways to appreciate the picturesque village (Optional activity):
- Rent a bike from your hotel and choose one cycling route for in-depth exploration.
- Take a bamboo raft and enjoy the stunning views along the Mingshi River.
- Relax around the outdoor swimming pool of your hotel and stretch out on the chair for the intoxicating surroundings.
After lunch, we will drive to Beihai city in 5 hours.

- Day 5: Beihai - Weizhou IslandWeizhou Island, Crocodile Park, Catholic Cathedral
Head towards the Beihai pier and go to Weizhou Island by boat taking a mere 70 minutes. Weizhou island, located 21 nautical miles south of Beihai city in the Gulf of Tonkin, is ranked by the China National Geography Magazine as the biggest and youngest volcanic island in China. Here you can appreciate the dormant volcanic scenery, explore the religious architecture and try various water sports.
Weizhou Island We will go for a hike through the Crocodile Park to track past eruptions by observing the bizarre rock formations along the way. Pay a visit to the Neo-gothic style Catholic Cathedral in Shengtang Village. Built in 1853 by French missionaries, the church is made of volcanic and coral sedimentary rocks from the sea bottom. The resonating bells and strong walls testify to its history.

- Day 6: Weizhou Island Day TripFree Day on the Island
Enjoy your whole day at Weizhou Island at leisure. The island is 6km from north to south and 5km from east to west, covering a land area of around 25 square kilometers. You could take the local motorcycle or rent a bike to explore the whole island.
Take a local motorcycle to explore the whole island Weizhou offers some of the best beaches in the country. The sea around Weizhou is rich in corals and other marine animals. You could also have fun on the wide beautiful beaches, enjoying the sea breeze, reading, diving, snorkeling, or fishing. The seafood market at South Bay sells a wide range of fresh seafood, snacks, fruits, and beverages.

- Day 7: Weizhou Island - Beihai DepartureBeihai Old Quarter
After breakfast, we will return back to Beihai and visit its Old Quarter famous for its old colonial-era architecture. Dating back to 1776, eight Western nations set up consulates, hospitals, churches, and schools there. Therefore the remaining buildings are Chinese mixed western style arcade architectures. The streets are lined with life-size bronze sculptures, food vendors, souvenir shops, fine cafes, atmospheric restaurants, and bars, forming a place to ease into Beihai's laid-back seaside rhythms.
Beihai Old Quarter After lunch, we will send you to the airport and see you off. Here comes the end of the journey. Thanks for booking the tour. Wish you all the best! Please depart Beihai airport after 5pm.
