Hong Kong’s Avenue of Stars on the Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront is a celebration of Hong Kong film industry. Designed by the renowned landscape architect James Corner, it reopened in 2019. It pays homage to the remarkable accomplishments of Hong Kong movie stars and filmmakers. You’ll find their handprints and statues along the iconic Victoria Harbor. What to See and Do at the Avenue of Stars

Admire the Bronze Statues of Hong Kong Film Legends

At Avenue of the Stars, meet your favorite celebrities when you travel to Hong Kong. There are four bronze statues, Bruce Lee, Anita Mui, McDull, and the Hong Kong Film Awards statue.

You’ll find a 2-meter-tall bronze statue of probably the most famous figure ever of Hong Kong film industry, Bruce Lee. Known for his impressive martial arts skills, he is positioned in his classic stance, ready to face off his opponent. Water flows in a small fountain beneath him, a reminder of Bruce Lee’s famous quote: “Be formless, shapeless, like water.”

Another highlight of Avenue of the Stars is the statue of “the daughter of Hong Kong,” Anita Mui. She was a singer and actress known in every Chinese household. She was well-loved for her spirit of independence and individuality. In line with that, her statue shows her in a beautiful dress, eyes fixed ahead with determination and strength.

Find Celebrity Plaques and Handprints

The handprints of about 110 distinguished Hong Kong film stars are set into the wooden handrails along Avenue of the Stars. You’ll find celebrities including Jackie Chan, Andy Lau, Jet Li, Maggie Cheung, Michelle Yeoh Choo-kheng, and Tony Leung Chiu-wai. Scan the QR codes next to the handprints to learn about the stars’ biographies and watch selected movie clips.

Watch the Stunning Symphony of Lights Show

The Avenue of Stars is one of the best places to watch the Symphony of Lights show, a music and light show that is an essential part of your Hong Kong tour. At 8pm every night, it takes the night sky as its stage and illuminates the Victoria Harbor with spotlights, lasers, and LED screens. More than 40 skyscrapers and landmarks on both sides of the harbor play a part in this show.

View the Sunrise and Sunset

Right by the water, the Avenue of Stars is an ideal spot for viewing the sunrise and sunset. Feel the morning or evening breeze as you walk down the quiet promenade. Many locals come here for a jog and take in the fresh air.

There’re plenty of seating areas with shades and great views. Best Time to Visit the Avenue of Stars

For the best experience at Avenue of Stars, get there around 8pm for the Symphony of Lights show. But that’s also the peak hour for the attraction. If you would like a quieter walk, visit in the morning or afternoon when the weather is pleasant. The best season to explore Avenue of the Stars is from October to December, when it’s cool and dry with a lot of clear days.

How to Get to the Avenue of Stars

MTR: Take the West Rail Line to East Tsim Sha Tsui Station and follow the signs to the Avenue of Stars. Or you can take any other lines to Tsim Sha Tsui Station, take Exit E, and walk to Salisbury Road near the avenue.

Bus: Take bus No. 5, 5C, or 28 to Star Ferry Station. Then take a short walk to the avenue. Or you can take bus No. 1, 1A, 2, 6, 7, 8A, 8P, or 9 to Hong Kong Cultural Center, then walk to the avenue.

Ferry: If you’re heading to the avenue from Hong Kong Island, you can take a Star Ferry from Central or Wan Chai pier to Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier.

Taxi: Taxis are always an option for a convenient and quick ride from anywhere in Hong Kong.
