At around 7:30 am, our tour guide and driver will pick you up from the downtown hotel (if your hotel is beyond the second ring road of Beijing city, please feel free to contact your travel consultant to get the exact meeting place in downtown area for pick-up).
After 2.5 hours’ driving, you will arrive at today’s first destination – Gubei Water Town – one of China’s most famous water towns. The town has the Simatai section of China’s Great Wall as the background and boasts picturesque canals, bridges, courtyard houses, shops, and hotels. It increasingly become another popular site for visitors in Beijing.
The tour guide will help to handle the admission tickets and provide you the instructions to explore the scenic area and wait for you outside. Then it’s your free time to travel around. Wander around the town by yourself and try some local snacks at your own cost.
You will enjoy lunch in the water town (included).
After a visit in the water town, go to Simatai Great Wall, the only section of the Great Wall that retains the original appearance from the Ming dynasty, thus called the “primitive Great Wall” by UNESCO. This part of the Great Wall stretches 5.4 kilometers with a total of 35 lookout towers.
The towers on the Simatai Great Wall with delicate designs and various structures are different from those on other parts of the Great Wall. Please watch your steps while walking as it is known for being steep. If hiking is too much for you, cable car is available and optional (cost on your own).
At around 3 pm, meet your guide at the designated place and be transferred back to Beijing City. The driving will last around 2.5-3 hours. Upon arrival, drop you off at Dongzhimen Subway Station, Wangfujing, or Qianmen Sanjiao. You can freely explore the city on your own and get back to your hotel by yourself.
