Huangshan Weather in Spring (March, April, May)

Spring in Huangshan Scenic Area typically spans from mid-March to late May. The mountain area sees spring slightly later than the plains due to the higher elevation. It is still possible to encounter snow in early March. April to May is the best time to enjoy spring blossoms and vibrant scenery.

With increasing altitude, a spring hike also allows you to experience multiple seasonal shifts – from the vibrant blossoms at the mountain’s base to the lingering chill at the summit. The temperature difference between the base and the summit can be 5-8°C. So, it is recommended to dress in layers.

Average temperatures of Huangshan in spring (March to May) range from 10℃-15℃. There are relatively significant temperature differences between day and night.

This period also sees rainfall increasing and more frequent cloudy days, especially in April and May. After rainfall, it is more possible to encounter the seas of clouds enveloping the towering peaks. However, the wet conditions may also cause some travel inconvenience, so you’d better get prepared.
