In this One Day Chengdu Panda Tour, you will spend morning time with pandas, and in the afternoon, you will visit Dufu Thatched Cottage, Wide and Narrow Valley, and People’s Park in city area. AM: At around 08:30, our English-speaking tour guide and driver will pick you up from the Chengdu downtown hotel, and your amazing exploration begins!
The first scenic site will be the exciting Chengdu Giant Panda Base, which is well known for the protection and breeding of the endangered giant pandas which are unique to China. The base is definitely a highlight for most visitors to Chengdu. There are adorable pandas everywhere. You can watch them eating bamboo, playing with each other, and of course, sleeping. Your tour guide will navigate you through the huge area, share some information about the pandas, and help you take amazing photos.
Noon: Lunch on your own.
PM: In the afternoon, pay a visit to Dufu Thatched Cottage. Du Fu (712-770) is the most achieved poet in the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Dufu Thatched Cottage is actually a museum in memory of the great poets. He lived in the Mid-Tang Dynasty when the dynasty turned from its prosperity to decline. So, most of his poems reflect the sufferings of normal people and alarming social facts. His great poems win the fame Sage of Poetry for him.
The following stop is Wide and Narrow Alley, which has a long history and can date back to the Qing Dynasty. Now the old alleys have been converted into one of the top attractions in Chengdu. Strolling along the streets, you still can see many well-preserved Qing Dynasty buildings. In addition to appreciating the traditional architecture, you also can savor some local delicacies. As a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, Chengdu will surprise you with its delicious food.
Concludes today’s tour with a relaxing walk in People’s Park, a popular amusement site among local people. There are also some cultural relics and historic steles in the park that bear the city’s history in the past century. If you have interest, your guide will be very glad to explain them to you.
