Then, we will drive for around 40 minutes to the city center and your exploration begins! The first site will be Xinjiang Regional Museum. It is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in exploring the region’s diverse cultural heritage. The museum is home to an impressive collection of artifacts, including ancient manuscripts, pottery, and textiles. The highlight is the Mummy Hall where you can see the preserved remains of mummies found in the Tarim Basin.
After lunch, continue your Urumqi city tour to Hongshan Park, aka Red Hill Park, which is one of the landmarks of Urumqi, sitting in the central area of this city. The main body of Hongshan Park is composed of a purple sandy conglomerate which is in red, hence the name. The park is popular for travelers in that it provides very good vision to behold the full view of Urumqi.
Afterward, take a walk around the Xinjiang International Bazaar to further enjoy the local culture.
