Reed flute cave, located in the northwest suburb of Guilin, is 5 kilometers away from the city center. It is a famous scenic spot for its fantastic stalactite cave and charming idyllic scenery, and it is recommended by the world tourism organization as one of the “world tourism scenic spots”. Reed flute cave is 240 meters deep and 500 meters long with a large number of colorful and exquisite shape composed by stalactite such as primeval forest, crystal palace, mountains of flower and fruit, inscriptions on the cave wall and so on. So it is also known as the “palace of art of nature”. Since the Tang dynasty, it has become an attraction. After being developed in 1959, It has been equipped with a restaurant, teahouse, waterside pavilion, lake pool, bridge, and cruise boat with flowers and trees.   • Reed flute caveis a natural cave, which formed in a long time. onemillion years ago, it was an ancient underground lake, and due to the earth movement and the uplift of the mountain, the underground lake became a cave. Later, groundwater formed by rainwater flows along many crushed zones in the mountain, dissolving the calcium carbonate in the rocks into a solution containing carbonate and calcium ions. When water flows from a crack of the rock into a cave, it evaporates, only leaving calcium carbonate. The precipitation crystallization with Calcium ions have formed the stalactites after years of accumulation.
