Seven Treasure Town & Zhujiajiao Water Town Group Tour
Tour Overview
Zhujiajiao water town is known as “the most famous town in Shanghai”. Seven Treasure Town, located in the southwest of Shanghai, is a historic town with both the natural scenery of the Jiangnan water town and a long cultural connotation. This one day tour will take you to explore two ancient towns with different features nearby Shanghai. You will visit Zhujiajiao Ancient Watertown in the morning and Seven Treasure Town in the afternoon. Take this tour to experience the other look of metropolitan Shanghai.
AM: In the morning at 8:30 am, our driver and guide will pick you up at your Shanghai downtown hotel. After boarding the car, we will first drive to Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, a highlight attraction in Shanghai, a water town with a history that can trace back to the Three Kingdoms Period. The appearance of the town we see today was left from the Ming Dynasty. Nowadays the ancient town is known for its bridges, old streets, and gardens built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The highlight things to see in the ancient town are Fangsheng Bridge, Baoguo Temple, Town God’s Temple, and Zhuxi Garden. Here you can also optionally take a boat ride along the river to have a special view of this old water town which will impress you a lot.
Noon: Lunch in a local restaurant.
PM: After lunch, we will head to Seven Treasure Town, which locates in a suburb of Shanghai and shows the typical feature of an southern Chinese ancient town. Built in Ming and Qing dynasties, this old town used to be a marketplace for the trade of some daily goods like cloth, yarn, food material, and vegetables. The town actually had rich commercial history but was also pervaded with the cultural atmosphere of old times as there were many famous scholars at that time then. Today visitors can still feel the original taste of the old town and enjoy many exquisite crafts local.
During today’s tour, you will stop by the Silk Factory where you can learn knowledge about silk and appreciate excellent silk products as a traditional craft in China. Around 5:00 pm you will be transferred back to your Shanghai downtown hotel and it is available for you to try some night tours if you are interested, such as the Huangpu River Cruise and Chinese Massage Experience.
