  • By Driving: This is a popular way to get to the Simatai Great Wall. Just drive along the Jingcheng Expressway, get off at Exit Simatai, and make your way to the parking lot of the scenic area. It is about 140 kilometers, which may take about 2 hours and cost CNY 60.
  • By Train: A train travel from Beijing to Simatai takes about 2 hours and costs CNY 12. Head to Beijing North Railway Station, Changping North Railway Station, or Qinghe Railway Station to board a train toward Gubeikou Railway Station, and get on a taxi to the Great Wall afterward.
  • By Tourist Bus: A tourist bus to Simatai Great Wall is available. It departs from Dongzhimen to Gubei Water Town directly, near to which the Simatai Great Wall is located. By the way, a bus trip usually takes 2 hours and costs CNY 48. Below is a timetable for the tourist bus.

Getting to Simatai from Other Sections of the Great Wall

  • From Jinshanling to Simatai Great Wall: Jinshanling Great Wall is next to Simatai Great Wall, but the junction of the two sections has been blocked off. So you need to take a big detour via the highway to get there. Besides, you are advised to start a one-day hiking tour from Jingshanling to the Simatai Great Wall and marvel at the different charms at different sections.
  • From Mutianyu to Simatai Great Wall: Mutianyu Great Wall is about 100 kilometers from Simatai Great Wall, which takes a 2-hour drive to reach one from the other.
  • FromGubeikou to Simatai Great Wall of China: Gubeikpu Great Wall is nearly 12 kilometers from Simatai Great Wall. A bus or taxi travel there takes about 25 minutes.
