How to get to Zhangjiajie easily: Most tourists choose to take a plane to reach Hehua Airport or take a high-speed train to Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station. Driving to Zhangjiajie is also very convenient. The distance from Changsha to Zhangjiajie is about 320 kilometers. It takes about 4 hours by car to drive on the Changsha – Zhangjiajie Highway.
Get to Zhangjiajie by Air
Taking the airplane is the fastest way to get to Zhangjiajie. Located in Hehua Village, Nanzhuangping Street, Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City, Hunan Province, Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport is about 4.5 kilometers southwest of the Zhangjiajie city center. As a 4D-level mainline airport, it is the second largest international airport in Hunan Province and the only international air port in the Wuling Mountain area. Zhangjiajie airport was completed and put into operation in 1994, and officially expanded its opening to foreign nationality aircraft in 2011.

Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport has a T2 terminal with an area of 46,500 square meters. There is a runway with a length of 2,600 meters, a parking apron area of 181,000 square meters, and 19 parking stands. The airport has opened routes to many domestic cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Shenzhen, Xi’an, Changsha, Chongqing, Hangzhou, as well as routes to dozens of international cities including Chinese Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Seoul and Busan in Korea, and Bangkok in Thailand. The airline timetable to get to Zhangjiajie often changes, it is recommended to follow the flight schedule displayed at the local ticket office.

Important Tips: If there are no direct flights in your city, you can fly to Changsha first and then transfer to the intercity high-speed railway to get to Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, which is also easy and convenient. There are many intercity high-speed trains from Changsha to Zhangjiajie every day from 06:00 to 21:00, which take about 2 hours. And the ticket price for second-class seat ranges from RMB 144-288.
After arriving at Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport, you can choose to take the airport bus, bus route 4, or taxi to get to Zhangjiajie city center, and the transportation is very convenient.

Get to Zhangjiajie by Train
Zhangjiajie has two railway stations: Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station and Zhangjiajie Railway Station. And the vast majority of trains stop at Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station.
Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station
Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, that is Zhangjiajie High-Speed Railway Station, is an important hub station connecting Chongqing Qianjiang- Hunan Changde Railway and Hunan Zhangjiajie – Jishou – Huaihua High-Speed Railway. It is also a comprehensive Zhangjiajie transportation hub integrating various modes of transportation such as railway, bus, maglev, etc.
Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station opened for operation at the end of 2019 and has become the second high-speed railway center in Hunan. The building area of Zhangjiajiexi Station is 35,215 square meters, with a platform scale of 7 platforms and 17 tracks. Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station is designed with the concept of “unique peaks and lush greenery, covered bridges spanning hundreds of miles”. The overall appearance of the station features undulating mountains, highlighting the unique characteristics of Zhangjiajie travel.
Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station is the main tourist distribution center of Zhangjiajie City, 25 kilometers away from the core scenic spot of Wulingyuan, and 8 kilometers away from Zhangjiajie city center. There are bus routes 6 and 17.

Shuttle Bus
Zhangjiajie High–speed Railway Coach Station, located at the south side of the square in front of Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, has opened shuttle buses from Zhangjiajie City to Wulingyuan, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Tianzi Mountain and other scenic spots.
In addition, Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station plans to build a tourism maglev line project, which is introduced from Tianmen Mountain Cableway Station and connects Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Wulingyuan Scenic Area, Huanglong Cave Scenic Area and Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Scenic Area, with a total length of 52.7 kilometers.
Zhangjiajie Railway Station
Also known as Zhangjiajie South Railway Station, it is located on Guanli Road in Yongding District, Zhangjiajie City. This station was opened for operation in 2008, with a platform scale of 3 platforms and 7 tracks, and the via route is Henan Jiaozuo – Guangxi Liuzhou Railway. There are only a few trains stopping nowadays.

How to get to Zhangjiajie from Xi’an by train
Currently, there is no direct train from Xian to Zhangjiajie. You can first take the G520, G816, G1166, G824 or other high-speed train from Xianbei to Changshanan, and then transfer to G5884, D7482, G5876, G689 or other high-speed train to get to Zhangjiajiexi. The entire journey takes about 8.5 – 10 hours, and the second-class ticket price is approximately RMB 900.
How to get to Zhangjiajie from Chengdu by train
Currently, there is no direct train from Chengdu to Zhangjiajie. You can first take the D620 or G8501 from Chengdudong to Chongqingbei, and then transfer to K1095 or K687 to get to Zhangjiajiexi. The entire journey takes about 9 hours, and the second-class ticket price is about RMB 200. Alternatively, you can first take the G2167, G2191, G2195 or G2371 from Chengdudong to Huaihuanan, and then transfer to G5682, G6050, G6174 or G6080 to get to Zhangjiajiexi. The entire journey takes about 7-8 hours, and the second-class ticket price is about RMB 500-600.
How to Get from Zhangjiajie to Popular Scenic Spots
Zhangjiajie city was built on tourism, so to speak, and its comprehensive tourism line services provide tourists with more convenient transportation options. Zhangjiajie has opened multiple tourist shuttle buses, such as direct buses from the city center to scenic spots such as Tianmen Mountain and National Forest Park, making it convenient for tourists to visit various popular attractions.

Get to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (Wulingyuan Scenic Area)
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is about 35 kilometers north of Zhangjiajie Airport, which costs 45 minutes by car; about 27 kilometers north of Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, which costs 35 minutes by car.
You can also choose to take a bus from Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. Opposite the exit of Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, there are direct buses to Wulingyuan Suoxiyu or Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Scenic Area. It takes about 55 minutes. The fare is RMB 12 per person and the bus departs every 30 minutes. In addition, you can also choose a taxi or ride hailing service, which costs about RMB 100.
Note: Zhangjiajie National Park (how to get there) – has five entrances, namely the South Gate Forest Park, the East Gate Wulingyuan, the North Gate Tianzi Mountain, the Four Gates of Shuirao, and the West Gate Yangjiajie. You can enter the scenic area at any entrance. Among them, the two entrances Forest Park and Wulingyuan are the most convenient.
Get to Tianmen Mountain
Tianmen Mountain is about 10 kilometers south of Zhangjiajie Airport, which costs 20 minutes by car; about 15 kilometers south of Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, which costs 30 minutes by car.
You can also choose to take a bus from Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station to Tianmen Mountain. Just walk to the bus stop and take bus route 17. It takes about 1 hour to reach Tianmen Mountain Cableway Station, and then walk 50 meters to reach Tianmen Mountain Cableway Down-Station.
Get to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon
Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is about 60 kilometers northeast of Zhangjiajie Airport, which costs 70 minutes by car; about 50 kilometers north of Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, which costs around 1 hour by car.
Get to Fenghuang Ancient Town
Fenghuang Ancient Town is about 210 kilometers southwest of Zhangjiajie Airport, which costs nearly 3 hours by car; about 215 kilometers north of Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, which costs nearly 3 hours by car.
How to get from Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang by train or bus: You can also choose high-speed train to get to Fenghuang Ancient Town. Departing from Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, the journey takes about 1 hour, and the second-class seat costs RMB 93. If you are in Wulingyuan Town outside Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, you can also take a direct bus to Fenghuang Ancient Town. The departure time is 8:30 and 14:30. The fare is RMB 80-100. It takes about 4 hours.
Get to Furong Ancient Town
Furong Ancient Town is about 80 kilometers southwest of Zhangjiajie Airport, which costs 1.5 hours by car; about 85 kilometers southwest of Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, which costs 1.5 hours by car.
How to get from Zhangjiajie to Furong by train: You can also choose high-speed train to get to Furong Town. Departing from Zhangjiajiexi Railway Station, it only takes 23 minutes to reach Furongzhen Station, and the second-class seat costs RMB 40.
